April Lockhart

April Lockhart was born on July 4, 1995. When she was in the seventh grade, she started playing guitar and taking piano classes which sparked her interest in music writing. April's first song was Different. It was written at 12 years of age. When she was 14 April committed a large amount of her time writing song ideas and practicing her musical skills. Soon after she began taking trips to write with father in NY and LA. April began including other topics in her book Take My Hand to help those of her peers who struggled with peer pressure, disabilities or even suicide. Lockhart is a popular figure and works as a lifestyle blogger with the popular Ilia Clean Beauty brand. Her disability is a part of her persona, however it's not the entire story. The profile of Lockhart on Instagram does not cover up her disability, but it does not just focus on the issue. What is the message? That we all contain multitudes and that we are all unique and that we are more than our physical selves. Lockhart stated in a video interview that she does not want to be defined by the condition she has. The woman doesn't intend to work as a disability advocate who focuses on that. There is a lot of aspects that make up Lockhart. My day-today life is not affected by it. I lead a normal, everyday life and find my own solutions to problems. It's a big element of my life which is why it's crucial that we talk about the subject. The journey of self-acceptance that Lockhart has taken will be one that lasts many years, yet she is an inspiration for this purpose. However, she acknowledges going through phases of her body being unsure about wearing certain types of clothing which accentuated the arms of her. The fashionista wears what she loves and proudly posts pictures of herself in the outfits she picks out on social media. She says that self-love is a process. I'm not certain if you'll ever get there. It's a long journey. I'm not sure you'll ever get there. Your people by who are truly yours and see right into your heart, are those that remind you of the things that matter.
