Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci, (born November 12th, 1960 Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, (currently Onesti] Romania) Romanian gymnast who was the first gymnast to receive a score of a perfect of 10 in an Olympic competition. Bela Karalyi stumbled upon Comaneci at the age of six. Later, she would become the coach for Romania's gymnastics. Comaneci participated for the first time in the 1969 national junior championships and finished 13th. Following that, she took home the title of champion. Three gold medals were awarded in her first event in a junior pre-Olympic meeting in 1972 that was held by communist bloc countries. In 1973 as well as 1974, she became the all-around junior champion. When she competed for the first time as a senior athlete in the year 1975, she bested the Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva, a five-time European champion, winning 4 gold medals and one silver. She took home the American Cup in New York City in 1976 and became the first woman in history to complete a backward double salto as dismounting off the uneven parallel bars. Carol Marie Wayne was born on September 6, 1942, in Chicago Illinois US. Carol began her career in entertainment when she was in her teens. As a young girl she started her career as Figure Skating Performer alongside Nina Wayne in the travelling show called Ice Capades. The shows featured ice skating performances that were accompanied by theatrical music.
